The SYNEG General Assembly met on 13 June 2019 at the Château de Nanterre under the chairmanship of Mr Jean-Michel SOTO, in the presence of members and guests from the foodservice catering sector.

Two appointments were made on this occasion:

  • Mr Laurent COURNEIL, CEO of SOCAMEL, has been appointed Vice-Chairman of SYNEG. As such, he is a member of the Executive Board of the union.
  • Sophie CAILLAIREC, President of CAPIC, has been appointed President of the International Commission of SYNEG. She succeeds Mr Serge KERGOAT, President of KRAMPOUZ, whom Mr SOTO thanked for the time devoted to leading this important commission.

The President also paid tribute to the outstanding SYNEG personalities who had passed away in recent months

  • Mr Pierre-Alain AUGAGNEUR, former president of SYNEG and director of CHARVET
  • Mr Thierry BRENNER, former President of SYNEG and former CEO of HORIS Bonnet-Thirode
  • Mr Claude TIREL, former director of ODIC and GELKIT

In his speech to the press and guests of the partner organisations in the sector, Mr SOTO thanked his predecessor Mr Pascal MARCHAND and highlighted in particular some remarkable actions illustrating the variety of the union’s work:

“In the technical field, we have appointed a Technical Advisor who enables the Technical Commission to strengthen its expertise and to better bring our voice to the European level.

We continued our lobbying against the HFC Tax Project, in consultation with the Environment Commission and with the support of the “Alliance des professions du froid”. SYNEG thus assumes its role of categorical defence of the interests of our industry. But our first task is to organize the collective work for the benefit of the development of the entire sector.

We renewed the three-year agreement between SYNEG and GRDF, proof of the permanent link between professional cooking and natural gas used in many cooking applications.

In collaboration with the organizations of installers and design offices, we have finalized the standardization of BIM applied to our sector. This work will lead to the creation of a label in 2019. We will talk about this again in the second half of the year.

Finally, in June 2018 SYNEG published the 8th edition of its Technical Guide. This year, we are actively working on a new Ventilation Guide, and the first update of the Preventive Maintenance Guide.

In the environmental field, our VALO RESTO PRO® system enabled us to collect more than 6,000 tons of waste equipment in 2018.

With ECOLOGIC and the agreement of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, we have found an innovative continuity solution for the “furniture” component of VALO RESTO PRO®, which is now based on the accreditation of the VALDÉLIA eco-organization.

We also successfully organized the second edition of the “VALO RESTO PRO® Trophies”, which now include an eco-design category, and rewarded for the first time a design office in addition to manufacturers, installers and users.

In the field of exports, SYNEG members exhibited together on a French Pavilion in Singapore in April 2018, and in Dubai in October-November 2018.

SYNEG has created a new concept: country webinars. The principle is to put SYNEG members in contact with the local offices of BUSINESS France. In 2018, we worked with the TEL AVIV office to discover the specificities of the Israeli market; and on June 04 we worked with the JOHANESBURG office to address the South African market.

In the field of communication and networking, we have multiplied the opportunities for meetings between members and with our partners in the sector.

We have also added a base-line to the SYNEG name: “Les équipementiers de la restauration hors-domicile”. With the modification of our statutes, this underlines our desire to better embrace the entire profession of manufacturer of equipment for out-of-home catering.

Finally, we have created a new purchasing department called SYNEG Achats. Since March, it has offered SYNEG members access to 17 suppliers referenced in 10 categories of overhead costs. The result: savings money and time to be saved to devote to your core business. »
